I'm sure you've heard this question, "If you were stranded on an island, what would be the three personal things you would want with you?" One of my answers might sound a little strange to women under the age of 35, but for those over 45 you may feel me on this...my tweezers. Yes, my tweezers! Listen. I do realize that I'm alone on the island, but still...What woman would want to look like Morgan Freeman when she's finally rescued? I am COMPLETELY invested in plucking those little random hairs off my chin, face, and yes...the nipples. I keep three pairs. One in my purse, one at home, and one in my car. Getting stopped at a red light and seeing one waving from my chin in the rearview mirror, well...I'm plucking it, keep blowing the horn! You know your colleagues at work stare at it, right?
Ok, I'm not vain or obsessed with my tweezers. I just don't believe that reaching a certain age gives you an excuse to not keep yourself together. Yea, of course there are other things that you would need being stranded. But, the question relates to personal things, not survival stuff. The other two things: pictures of my kids, and some music (my list isn't prioritized). At 57, having a pair of tweezers is as important as having a pen in my purse. I don't need a pen on an island, but I need my tweezers.
